Parcheesi is an American adaptation of the Indian cross and circle board game Pachisi, also known as Parchis.

Rules and Gameplay of Parchis:

• A player rolls the dice and uses the top die values to move their pawns. Pawns not in the nest can move forward.
• Pawns can only leave the nest with a roll of five on a single die or the sum of both dice. A double five allows two pawns to exit simultaneously.
• Players can move one or two pawns based on the dice rolls. A turn is forfeited if no legal moves are possible.

When moving a single pawn according to the total from two dice, increments of the total are permitted, allowing captures along the way.

All die rolls must be taken, and if a player must forfeit one of two rolls, the lower number is forfeited before any additional rewards are applied.

With a doubles roll, the player moves four times according to each die, which can be distributed among one to four pawns if all are out of the nest. After rolling doubles, an additional roll is made.

Making a blockade by occupying the same space with two pawns prevents movement through that space for any player. Blockade pawns and opponent pawns cannot land in that space temporarily.

A pawn can voluntarily continue past the home row but on reaching it completes its circuit. One's turn concludes when the next player rolls; unused rewards are surrendered.

Rewards in Parchis:

• Sending an opponent's pawn back to the nest awards a twenty-space move that cannot be split.
• Moving a pawn to the home space results in a ten-space move not divisible between pawns.
